Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center Animal Care Assistant Directly responsible for animal care of program and display animals at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. The individual will handle and work with snakes, turtles, frogs, toads, salamanders, lizards, fish and other occasional animals. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) CASA Volunteer A CASA Volunteer is a trained, citizen volunteer appointed by the Juvenile Court Judge to ensure that the needs and interests of abused and neglected children are being met. CASA's are assigned to dependent children who are under the Juvenile Court jurisdiction and are assigned at the discretion of the Juvenile Court.

Your responsibility will be to serve as an arm of the Juvenile Court as researcher, monitor, and child advocate. Interview child, parents, foster parents, and any other concerned parties or relatives. Review appropriate records and reports. Work with attorney Guardian and Litem representing the best interest of the child. Confer with conselors, teachers, social workers, etrc., involved with the case. Submit thorough, independent, written reports to the Court with copies to all parties prior to court hearings. Appear in court as needed to answer questions or testify on findings or recommendations. Maintain records of all findings and document all contacts. Visit institutions, foster homes or group homes where child is placed or may be placed. Maintain contact with program coordinator and submit all documentation. Remain involved in the case until the Court's jurisdiction is terminated.

EX: Vanilla: Morning play group, PUPS , and walked x2 volunteers. C Update any information (as provided by staff) in the dog/cat binder (ex: Heartworm meds given), Update any kennel signs as needed (ex: from stray hold/can’t go out to available for adoption) in preparation for the next day.

CONSUMER RELATIONS: Greet visitors/potential adopters/volunteers as they enter the building.
• Volunteers: Remind them to sign in/out on the log. If volunteers have walked/socialized an animal, remind them to enter that information in the binder or on the dry erase board. (This will be used by the afternoon volunteer.) Thank them as they leave.
• Visitors/potential adopters: Talk them through then general process and any guidelines they will need to follow (use hand gel between each animal, do not touch animals if it has a sign on the kennel etc.) Look up basic information in the dog/cat binder to answer simple questions (age, breed, gender, general range of adoption feeds, etc) and refer to an adoption counselor (other staff) when needed or when a person appears interested in adopting. Thank each and every person who entered the building and invite them to come back!
• Donations: Accept donations from anyone who brings them to the facility. Take the person’s name and address and donation item (if they are agreeable.) Provide a tax receipt if the person desires. THANK THEM PROFUSELY and let them know they are appreciated.

Junior Achievement of Southeast Missouri Teaching Facilitator Junior Achievement can provide you with an opportunity to empower children to own their economic future. JA programs focus on entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy. Introduce students to the “money process” and their role in relevant economics, i.e. families, communities, cities, etc.

The elementary programs include five, 30-45 minute sessions; middle school programs include six, 45-50 minute sessions; and high school programs include five to seven, 45-60 minute sessions. The JA sessions are taught during the school day at a time that is mutually agreed upon between the teacher and the volunteer. Schools include Blanchard Elementary, Clippard Elementary, Franklin Elementary, Gordonville, Millersville, North Elementary in Fruitland, Orchard Drive Elementary, and South Elementary.

Missouri/Illinois Blood Services (American Red Cross) Blood Drive Volunteer Volunteers help provide a friendly greeting to all donors as they register for their donation and instruct them on the procedures they follow as they prepare for their donation.

Volunteers act as canteen aides by providing refreshments and snacks to the donors when they have finished the donation process. This is a great way to express appreciation to the donors for helping to save lives!
